THE Vintage Clarets are Turning Out For Tommy in a Charity Football match being held on Saturday 25 July 2015 at Padiham FC.
Clarets fan Lorretta Tatham explains: “On the 24th July 2014, my dad Tommy Robertson peacefully fell asleep after a long fought battle with cancer. My dad was the kind of person that would live every minute to the full and was so grateful for all the help he received throughout his life and even more so near the end of his life.
“In respect of that my family and I are trying to raise as much money for the Macmillan Cancer charity as possible and have set up the ‘Turnout for Tommy Charity Match’ in his memory.
“My dad was never one to go down without a fight and if the money raised from our events can help at least one family like ours get to spend precious time with their family members then we have we done what we set out to do.
“My Dad was a keen footballer and played locally for nearly 30 years so we have brought together over 30 of his friends to play against the Vintage Clarets. There will be three 30-minute games and kick-off is 2pm.
“On the day we have a fully stocked bar, Burnley FC mascot Bertie Bee will be in attendance, there will be a burger van selling a wide variety of food, a bouncy castle, face painting, a children’s entertainer and karaoke and other entertainment afterwards.
“We also have a raffle – prizes include a brand new double bed kindly donated by Silentnight – Spa Vouchers, Outdoor Pursuits vouchers, and many other prizes. We also have a silent auction with a variety of football and cricket merchandise that people will be able to bid on.”
